• You have a completed WO education and at least 5 years of project management experience
• You have an affinity for public space and/or the development of real estate projects in an urban environment, but you see a challenge in leading other types of projects as well
• You are able to guide complex processes integrally and participatively, thinking in terms of possibilities and solutions
• You are a go-getter, persuasive and have good oral and written communication skills
• You possess political-administrative and organizational sensitivity
• You have the ability to create support, enthuse and connect in a chaotic environment

What will you do?

As project manager:

• Are responsible for the successful supervision of your own strategic projects: from preparation to implementation and evaluation
• Ensure that the goal or result is achieved within the frameworks of time, organization, money, information, communication and quality (GOTRICK)
• Determine strategy and set the lines and schedule for the project team
• Take care of the content and process design of a project or process and be in day-to-day charge
• Bear accountability of progress and results to both internal and external stakeholders 
• Keep track of any risks and take control measures
• Maintain a relevant network and create stakeholder support for your projects
• Advise the board, client, program manager and management
• Be a sparring partner at all levels with respect to initiation, execution and realization of initiatives and (sub)projects
• Are you sometimes the 'oil man' to get small-scale initiatives afloat
• In doing so, you take pride in (your work for) the city and are an ambassador for Heerlen

Team Projects

You will become part of the nicest project management team in the Netherlands. We go to work with energy and build daily on our beautiful city and organization. The team consists of 34 enthusiastic colleagues. Namely: project supporters and project leaders who operate at different levels: operational, tactical and strategic. 

On a daily basis we all pull administratively prioritized, multidisciplinary projects with a focus on external impact such as the construction of the Roman Museum, broad community facilities, reception of Ukraine refugees and demolition/construction of Slakhorst. Almost all project leaders supervise different types of projects (cultural, physical, social), where we are always there for each other with humor, advice and action. In this position you will be in charge of complex strategic projects in which you can think of: Restructuring projects, the service concept and/or downtown projects.

What do you get in return? 

At the Municipality of Heerlen, we offer you an environment where you will have room to develop yourself and the organization. This is a structural position. The first employment contract will be for a fixed term. 

The position is scaled in scale 12 with a gross monthly salary of minimum € 5,008, - and maximum € 6,777, - (depending on education and experience, for full-time employment). It is possible to work 40 hours and get paid for 36 hours. This allows you to build up 4 hours of additional time off (ADV) each week.

Furthermore, you receive an individual choice budget (IKB). This is 17.05% of your salary. We also offer training opportunities, flexible working hours and various vitality schemes, including our own sports incentive scheme and a flexible vitality budget in the form of a digital currency (Vitknip) that you can use in many places in Heerlen to increase your vitality.
