Natural gas-free
Natural gas-free
Why natural gas-free heating?
All of the Netherlands has a challenge: to stop using natural gas by 2050. This is what the cabinet has decided. The goal is to emit lessCO2. In Heerlen, this means that we must first use 20% less natural gas before 2030.
We now use a lot of natural gas to heat our homes, cook and take hot showers. In the process, a lot of CO2 is released. To keep our environment nice for our children and grandchildren, we are switching to clean ways of heating. Natural gas is also becoming increasingly expensive and will eventually run out. Heating in a different way is called heat transition.
We understand that 2050 still seems far away. Or that it's hard to know where to start. That's why we are happy to help you make your home natural gas-free. That way your home will be ready for the future.
Start neighborhoods
We have started in Hoensbroek-Centrum and Versiliënbosch to investigate the best way to heat these neighborhoods natural gas-free. Together with residents, entrepreneurs, housing corporations and other important parties, we are making a plan. After these two neighborhoods we will start working with other neighborhoods in the municipality.
We understand that making your home natural gas-free may raise questions for you. That is why we keep you informed of developments in your neighborhood. We provide you with information through house-to-house letters and organize information meetings. In this way we take you through the process step by step.
