The municipality assigns an address with a house number to every new home or commercial property. You will only receive a permanent house number after obtaining an environmental permit. You often need a house number just to apply for a utility connection. Until you receive a permanent house number, you can request a temporary number. This may allow a utility provider to place you on the waiting list. You can do this through the official handling your request or when applying for an environmental permit. Temporary house number

Would you like a temporary house number? If so, please:

  • Please include a clear request in your concept exploration or permit application. Do this by sending an email to the initiative manager or case manager.
  • Please include construction drawings that clearly show where you plan to build each structure.

This preliminary number is not yet final. The number may differ from the final number.

Assigning a house number is free of charge.

Description

Houses and commercial properties are assigned an address with a house number by the municipality. Mooring and berthing locations are often also assigned an address. All addresses are recorded in the Basic Registration of Addresses and Buildings.

Do you want to build a new building or divide a building? Then you will need an environmental permit.

Temporary house number

We will verify that your application complies with the provisions of the BAG Act. The municipality of Heerlen has entrusted this task to the BAG/GEO department of the Data Center in Landgraaf. 

Incorrect house number

The municipality cannot simply use or change house numbers. Is your house number incorrect? If so, please report it to the Data Center.

Requirements

The Requirements requesting a change of address or house number in the Basic Registration of Addresses and Buildings are:

  • The municipality has granted a building permit (environmental permit).
  • The municipality has determined that a mistake was made.
