Parking at car dealerships

Car companies need a permit to park cars on public roads. You can apply for the permit at the municipality.

Approach

Here's how to apply for a waiver:

  • Please contact the municipality.
  • You provide:
    • where you want to park
    • why you should park there

Description

If you have a car business, you may not just park cars on or along public roads. You need an exemption for this. Placing cars on your own property is allowed.

Requirements

The main Requirements for applying for a waiver are:

  • no parking restrictions apply
  • parking does not pose a road safety hazard
  • parking does not cause a nuisance to the surrounding area
  • there are no alternatives available

Term

The municipality will decide on your application within 8 weeks. Is that not possible? Then the municipality may extend this period 1 time.

Objections and appeals

Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? Then you can lodge an objection. This allows you to let the municipality know why you disagree with the decision. You must do this within six weeks. The municipality will then review your application and make a new decision.

If you still disagree with the municipality's decision, you can ask the court to review whether the municipality made the right decision. This is called 'appealing'.
