Politically Active Course
Want to learn more about local politics and how you can actively contribute yourself? Heerlen City Council is offering a unique opportunity to residents interested in politics! Starting in early 2025, the Heerlen City Council will launch the Politically Active course, organized specifically to give concerned residents of Heerlen a better understanding of how local politics works and to inspire them to get involved in the city.
The Politically Active course consists of five Thursday evening meetings. The course takes place in the evening between 7:30 and 10 p.m. in Heerlen's council chamber. Each meeting deals with a theme within politics. Participants are explained about municipal decision-making, learn how political influence works and can gain practical skills such as debating and reading a budget. Also on the program is an introduction to council members and a review of the February council meeting. The goal of the course is to inform residents about council work and enthuse them to possibly become active themselves.
