Court of Auditors
The Heerlen Court of Audit supports the city council in its monitoring task. The chamber examines whether the municipal government is implementing agreed policies efficiently and effectively.
By conducting research, the Court of Audit contributes to the better functioning of the municipality. In other words, the Heerlen Court of Audit makes visible how public money is spent and whether the intended objectives of the municipality are actually achieved.
The Heerlen Court of Auditors consists of an external member, also chairman.
Organization and method
The Heerlen Court of Audit functions in coordination with (a working group of) the City Council, but independently of the City Council. The working method, powers, organization and rules of conduct are laid down in the Regulation of the Heerlen Court of Audit on the website overheid.nl.
