Then the role of Extraordinary Registrar (BABS) at the Municipality of Heerlen is just what you are looking for! Who are you?

  • You are a charismatic speaker with experience in front of large groups;
  • You remain calm under pressure, think in solutions and keep an overview during ceremonies;
  • You have excellent communication skills a fluent pen and can switch smoothly between different tasks;
  • You are organizationally strong: planning and coordinating a ceremony comes effortlessly to you;
  • You have knowledge of the legal requirements surrounding marriages and have preferably completed wedding officiant training (e.g. NCOD);
  • You are empathetic, creative and possess a warm personality. You ensure that the bride and groom and their guests are the center of attention and you can put them at ease, both during the preparations and on the big day itself.

What will you do?

  • Conducting personal interviews with couples to learn their love story;
  • Writing inspiring and unique speeches that match the wishes and personalities of the bride and groom;
  • Leading the ceremony smoothly and meaningfully;
  • Handle administrative tasks associated with marriages.

Our Civil Affairs team consists of 56 enthusiastic colleagues who together provide efficient and customer-oriented services to the residents of Heerlen. Our BABSs play an important role in this: each of them brings their own unique style and benade-ring, making every ceremony special and personal. Together, we strive to provide every resident with the best experience, from requesting documents to officiating at wedding ceremonies. What do we offer you?

You will have a contract on call, with a structural position in which the first year is fixed-term, including two months' probationary period. You will be paid per completion of a marriage or registered partnership, including preparation time, according to salary scale 8 in the Municipalities collective bargaining agreement. From October 1, 2024, the gross hourly wage will be €27.54. To this is added a supplement of 17.05% IKB and per marriage or registered partnership you are entitled to 0.26 vacation hours. You will also receive a flexible vitality budget in the form of a digital currency (Vitknip) that you can use at many places in Heerlen. Pension is accrued with the ABP.
