Notifying vacation or change on welfare benefits (SMF)

  • Do you receive benefits from the municipality? Then you may go abroad for 28 days each year without losing your benefit. Your stay abroad may not interfere with your education or reintegration program. If you go abroad, you must inform the municipality in time.
  • Does something change in your situation that could affect your benefits? If so, you must report this to the municipality. Do this before the 7th day after the month of the change.

Note

Are you required to submit a change form submitted every month? Then, of course, you must (continue to) do so.

Approach

This is how you report a vacation or change if you have benefits:

  • fill out the online change form
  • log in with your DigiD
  • make sure you have the documents on hand to upload

If you are going abroad, you must always notify the municipality one month in advance.

Description

Transferring vacations

With an assistance benefit, you are allowed 4 weeks away from home per year. For example, going abroad for vacation, family visits or a funeral. You can take your vacations all at once or spread them out. During your vacation, you will continue to receive assistance payments.

How long you are allowed to go abroad with benefits depends on your age. It does not matter if you are going abroad for vacation, family visits or hospitalization.

  • retirement age: you may stay abroad for a maximum of 13 weeks per calendar year. Report your stay abroad to the Social Insurance Bank. They will arrange your social assistance benefit.
  • younger than retirement age: you may stay abroad for a maximum of 4 weeks per calendar year.

When you are back, you must report it online using the status mutation form. This cannot be done at the front desk.

Report change

It is very important that you let us know about changes as soon as possible. That way we can pay your benefit in the right way. Do not forget to send along the supporting documents, so the municipality can check whether you are still entitled to the benefit. In the months that nothing changes, you do not have to fill in the change form.

Submit the form on time. Also make sure you fill in the correct information. If you fail to do so? Then you may be fined. If you receive too much assistance, you must pay it back or it will be deducted from your benefit. If you do not notify us of changes? Then we may stop paying your benefit.
