Social assistance benefit Suspected Abuse of Social assistance benefit

Are you receiving Social assistance benefit benefits? Report changes on time. The municipality actively checks whether someone is entitled to benefits. Do you think someone is fraudulent? Report this to the municipality. You can do this easily, quickly and even anonymously.

Approach

Here's how to report suspected misuse of a Social assistance benefit:

  • Contact the municipality. This may also be done anonymously.
  • You provide:
    • who it is about
    • where the person lives
    • what data is involved

Description

Whether someone is eligible for benefits depends on their personal circumstances. Those personal circumstances also determine the amount of the benefits. If someone provides incorrect information to the municipality, that person may receive too much money.

Do you think someone is providing the municipality with incorrect information about his or her benefits? If so, you can report this to the municipality. For example, if you think someone:

  • fails to report a change in income or assets
  • lives with someone but claims to live alone
  • provides an incorrect home address
  • does not report a marriage or divorce

The municipality can then launch an investigation. If the municipality also finds that the information is incorrect, it can demand a refund or impose a fine.
