30 new homes on site of former Franck lumberyard
The municipality of Heerlen has granted an environmental permit for the construction of 30 homes on the courtyard between Willemstraat and Oude Kerkstraat in Heerlen, on the site of the former Franck lumber yard. Together with project developer HVG Real Estate b.v., the municipality has developed the plan, which responds to the demand for high-quality and affordable housing. This will realize 30 homes in the social and middle segment. Meanwhile, after the start of sales in early September, 75% of the homes have already been sold. Preparatory work for the construction of the homes will start in January 2025.
Making meters
By granting this permit, the municipality is encouraging the construction of new housing in the city. Tightness in the housing market is also evident in Heerlen. These new homes are therefore a welcome addition.
Alderman Marco Peters: "We are working very hard to realize more housing in our city. Enabling this housing development on the site of the former Franck lumberyard is an important step in the development of the Willemskwartier. In addition, we are actively seeking locations throughout the city, all over our neighborhoods and districts, where housing can be added. This is the only way we can make meters!"
