What will you do?

As an all-round field service technician, you take care of handling reports related to public space. You will go out independently or as part of a team and perform various activities on behalf of your manager. This involves small-scale maintenance in public spaces. These activities can relate to technical installations but certainly also to traffic furniture.
You are a real jack-of-all-trades who has no problem rolling up his sleeves. The work, which largely takes place in public spaces, may include:

  • performing work on technical installations, traffic furniture (signage) and markings in public spaces and reporting on this to the manager; 
  • Receiving and supervising contractors on site; 
  • Solving simple malfunctions of technical installations; 
  • Maintaining parking facilities; 
  • installation of traffic furniture; 
  • Cleaning and checking fountains; 
  • acting as the organization's "eyes and ears" and calling card in public spaces. 

By order of the manager who directs you or by looking in the Signalen reporting system yourself, you decide which reports have priority. You advise the manager on the quality of the public space, dangerous situations and possible maintenance.

Your Team 

Team city management provides and coordinates the daily maintenance of public spaces, outdoor sports facilities and cemeteries in our city. The aim is a clean and safe city where it is pleasant to stay. This always involves connecting with the needs of residents, businesses and visitors. Most of the work is outsourced. However, to optimize the service to the residents of our city, a field service crew is also part of our team. The core tasks of the team consist of guidance and supervision of
outsourced work, handling reports in public space and monitoring the quality of the management of public space.

What do you get in return? 

At the Municipality of Heerlen, we offer you an environment where you will have room to develop yourself and the organization. We offer an interesting, structural position of 1 fte. The first employment contract will be for a fixed period of time (one year).
The position is scaled in the HR21 standard job scale 5 with a gross monthly salary of minimum € 2,316 and maximum € 3,369 (depending on education and experience, for full-time employment). It is possible to work 40 hours and get paid for 36 hours. Every week you build up 4 hours of extra free time (ADV).
Furthermore, you will receive an individual choice budget (IKB). This is 17.05% of your salary. We also offer opportunities for training, flexible working and our own sports incentive scheme.
