If you use soil and subsurface data, you can access the Basisregistratie ondergrond (BRO) for free. The BRO contains basic information about the Dutch subsurface. It contains data on:

• the geological and soil structure of the subsurface
• the usage rights to the subsoil

With this information, you will know better what your opportunities and risks are when using the subsoil. For example, if you want to install a ground source heat system, you want to know in advance what the composition of the subsurface is.

The municipality is required to keep subsurface data current.
