Getting soil testing done

A soil survey is sometimes required if you have construction or renovation plans. A soil test is also increasingly being requested when buying or selling a home, business premises or a piece of land.

Approach

Want to know if you have a valid soil survey? For more information, check out the soil plan or send an email to the soil counter.

This is how you request a soil test and send it to the municipality:

  • Go to the Environment Counter.
  • Do the permit check. You will see if a soil test is required. And you will see what information you need to provide. This depends on the environmental permit. It depends on whether it was issued only for the environment or also for construction.
  • Request a soil survey from an accredited consulting firm.
  • You will receive a report.
  • Go to the Environment Counter again .
  • Provide the soil test report to the municipality.

Description

A soil survey shows the quality of the soil at that time. Soil testing may be required in the following cases:

  • You are going to build or remodel.
  • You are buying or selling a home, commercial property or piece of land.
  • You stop a business for which you have an environmental permit.
  • The environmental plan is changing.

A soil survey is valid for 2 years. The quality of the soil may change during that time, for example, due to activities taking place on the soil. Also, national regulations sometimes change. With additional research you can indicate whether the results of the soil test are still correct after those 2 years.

Do you want to know if there is a risk of explosives in the ground? We check whether there is an increased risk of finding explosives in the survey area. We make use of a preliminary investigation that we draw up by a so-called 'source investigation'. We record the results in a report and a risk map.

The information on the risk of the presence of explosives is important for:

  • (Municipal) projects that require us to dig into the ground
  • preparation of zoning plans

Terms

The conditions for having a soil test performed include:

  • You own the land where you want to do soil testing. Or you have permission from the owner of the land. Does the land belong to the municipality? Then you ask permission from the municipality.
