Cemeteries
There are several types of cemeteries in Heerlen. Not all cemeteries belong to the municipality. Below are only the municipal cemeteries.
Opening hours
The cemeteries are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (except Imstenrade, open until 5 p.m.). During the summer time, the cemeteries are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays.
Municipal cemeteries
The municipality of Heerlen maintains the following cemeteries:

The following cemeteries fall under the administrator at Rand Road. There is no urn wall or floor. However, you can scatter ashes here if there is no cover plate on the grave.

Monumental cemeteries
The cemeteries around St. Jan Church and on Eikenweg are monumental cemeteries. No more burials take place here. Tombstones that are important for their appearance, cultural-historical value or because they are important for relatives are preserved. The park on Eikenweg is laid out as a butterfly garden.
Jewish cemetery
On the grounds of the cemetery on Akerstraat is a Jewish section. The Jewish cemetery is under the management of the Jewish community.
Islamic burial
The cemetery on the Randweg in Hoensbroek has a separate section for burial according to Islamic custom.
