There are several types of cemeteries in Heerlen. Not all cemeteries belong to the municipality. Below are only the municipal cemeteries.

Opening hours

The cemeteries are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (except Imstenrade, open until 5 p.m.). During the summer time, the cemeteries are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays.

Municipal cemeteries

The municipality of Heerlen maintains the following cemeteries:

    Kampstraat 48 in Heerlen 
  • Imstenrade Cemetery
    Imstenraderweg 10 in Heerlen 
  • Cemetery Randweg
    Vaesraderbosweg 8 in Hoensbroek 

The following cemeteries fall under the administrator at Rand Road. There is no urn wall or floor. However, you can scatter ashes here if there is no cover plate on the grave.

Monumental cemeteries 

The cemeteries around the church St. Jan and to the Eikenweg are monumental cemeteries. Burials no longer take place here. Grave monuments that are preserved because of their appearance, their cultural-historical value or because they are important to relatives. The park on the Eikenweg is set up as a butterfly garden. 

Jewish cemetery

On the grounds of the cemetery on Akerstraat is a Jewish section. The Jewish cemetery is under the management of the Jewish community.

Islamic burial

The cemetery on the Randweg in Hoensbroek has a separate section for burial according to Islamic custom.
