Wednesday, December 10, 2025, is a special day! During the past Year of Heerlen Heritage, Explorion created a whole series of geocaches and Adventure Labs that all have one thing in common: they provide information about Heerlen's heritage and challenge you to discover it for yourself. On Wednesday, December 10, we will conclude with the launch of the Adventure Lab Heerlen Literary Heritage. And that includes a book, which will be presented today during this event.

Hennie Jetzes is the author of this book, which is not intended to be read as a literary history of Heerlen, but rather to encourage readers to (re)read the books of writers from Heerlen, who are part of not only Heerlen's literary heritage but also that of the Netherlands.

None other than Heerlen Alderman Jordy Clemens education, culture, heritage, and city center development) will be present to receive the first copy and immediately hand out one or more copies to Dutch teachers in Heerlen's secondary education system. With the combination of this book, the Adventure Lab, and the accompanying website, Explorion offers education opportunities to actively 'send students out on the road' to explore, discover, and learn about heritage.

On December 10, Jan-Willem Souren from Explorion will explain to teachers how they can use Adventurelab caches to encourage students to conduct their own research and how Explorion's websites can help them create reports, assignments, etc.

Everyone is welcome (free of charge) on Wednesday, December 10, between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Boekhandel van der Velden van Dam at Promenade 153-155 in Heerlen, but we ask Dutch teachers from secondary schools in Heerlen/Hoensbroek to register in advance. They will then receive Hennie Jetzes' beautiful book for FREE! You can register by sending an email to info@eXplorion.nl with your name and the school where you work. Even if you cannot attend the event, it is useful to register, because then we will make sure that the book is sent to your school afterwards!
