On Saturday 11 January at 11:00 Daan Doesborgh and Olivier Willemsen will present their new book 'Limburg - a versatile portrait of a province'. Would you like to attend this special evening? Register via the website of Boekhandel de Dominicanen because when it's full, it's full.

The book Limburg offers a whole new perspective on everything that makes Limburg so unique. Known from the TV series with Winfried Baijens. Fifty years after the closing of the last coal mine in Limburg, writers Daan Doesborgh and Olivier Willemsen go in search of the soul of the deep South of the Netherlands. What makes the province so unique? Is it the language, the diverse landscape? And what indelible traces has the glorious mining past left now that the dust has properly settled?

Olivier Willemsen (Haps, 1980) swapped the canals of Amsterdam for the hills of South Limburg after twenty-five years. Daan Doesborgh (Steyl, 1988) swapped the province for the capital seventeen years ago. They wrote this book based on the scripts of the TV series Het stof dalen and their own research. As a newcomer and a veteran, they descend together into the deepest depths of a unique province.

The result is a multifaceted portrait of a special region. A story about buddies and camaraderie, about poverty and black lungs, but also about carnival,

the Limburg and Burgundian life.

  • In collaboration with the makers of the acclaimed TV series The Water Comes, The Earth Shakes and The Dust Falls
  • Richly illustrated with photos, illustrations and Maps
  • Authors available for interviews

The TV series Het stof dalen will be shown on NPO2 for four weeks from January 8, 2025 and can be viewed on NPO Start.

The book presentation will take place on Saturday, January 11 from 11:00 am at the Dominicanen bookstore in Heerlen.
