Neighborhood initiative? Yes please!

Take your chance to make Heerlen even greener, more fun, cozier, safer, cleaner and more beautiful than it already is. Turn the parks into an outdoor fitness or vegetable garden? Construct a boules court? Organize a neighborhood party or walk? Keep a flowerbed clean? Participate in a cleanup? Fun! All ideas are welcome. The municipality provides grants, support or materials. Report your idea and we will contact you about the possibilities. Have you already applied before? If so, you may fill out the online form.

Want to report an idea: Email us very briefly the description of your idea, the neighborhood where you want to do it, and if possible, include your phone number. We will then contact you as soon as possible and look together at your request and the possibilities. Choose the option: Report idea.

Have you proposed an idea before and you know how to do it and what is possible? Or would you prefer to fill out the application form right away? Then choose the arrange online option. 

Description

Maybe you have an idea for your neighborhood that is different from the one the municipality has. Or you may have just thought of something to make your neighborhood better, different, more pleasant, more beautiful or safer. We would like to work with you to see what is possible. This is 'Together in the neighborhood Heerlen'. 

Social activities and initiatives in public space

The municipality provides the basics. The residents take care of implementation and management. With this, many ideas have already been realized, large and small. They provide new élan in the neighborhood. And for connection between the people who live there. Together in the neighborhood we put our shoulders under a great neighborhood or street.

Clean-up actions

It is nice when there is no litter to be seen in the neighborhood. Would you like to help us by rolling up your sleeves, alone or with other neighbors? Or would your children like to help and save stickers they can spend later? If you participate, we will provide you with garbage bags, a sticker and a vest. We will collect the garbage collected from you. You can sign up for the actions:

  • Helping in your neighborhood as a hero of Heerlen (for children ages 4-12)
  • Helping out in your neighborhood as a Friend of Heerlen (for anyone age 13 and up)
  • organize a one-time cleanup event
  • adopt a trash can
