Discover The Politics of Daily Life in the SCHUNCK stairwell. Artists give their views on how the Kingdom Statute affects social and cultural reality.

The Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in force since 1954, regulates the state structure between the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. It defines the balance between autonomy and union, with this relationship constantly under negotiation. But what does this really mean for everyday life?

"The Politics of Everyday Life" artfully addresses the idea of how administrative, economic and social power relations affect our everyday reality. Through murals in the stairwell of the Glass Palace, artists Christopher Pablo, Elijah Nicholas, Marcel van den Berg and Ruthvienca Pietersz present their visions of how the Statute affects social and cultural dynamics within the different countries of the Kingdom.

According to curator Raenys Martis, this project offers a space for dialogue, reflection and confrontation. Come, see, think with us and discover how these politics are intertwined with our daily lives.
