The New Gallery sees regularly changing activities on different themes and disciplines of art and culture. It is a place for makers, new talent and unique collections from the region. All with a clear connection to our city.

This cultural city stage hosts art and cultural projects made for, by and with Heerlen residents. It is a unique space for both established and emerging creatives. They exhibit their work and share it with the public.

    "Overheard" is a participatory installation about intimacy, connection, and the way we perceive other people. For this work, Grace Peters brought together various groups of young people to discuss the question, “What makes a connection real to you?”

    In October, the exhibition “How we can('t) exist” will be on view at De Nieuwe Galerij in Heerlen.
    “How we can('t) exist” is a photo and video installation by actress Julia Akkermans in collaboration with photographer Liz van den Akker.

    The New Gallery

    The artists’ collective consists of 18 artists from Heerlen and Parkstad. For many years, they were based in an old school building in Kerkrade-West. The building housed numerous studios and exhibition spaces. It also served as a venue for neighborhood activities. It was no coincidence, then, that Werkplaats K’s motto was: “Artists of Value to the Neighborhood.”
