In the 30-kilometer zone of the Ganzeweide there is structural speeding. Together with the lack of visibility in certain places, this regularly leads to unsafe situations. The area contains stores, parking and many people use the road. The redesign will make it a lot safer for pedestrians, cyclists, residents, business owners and visitors in the future. Work on the redesign started the week of June 15, 2024.

Alderman Marco Peters of mobility: "Improving traffic safety is top priority. That is why we are also taking steps to tackle dangerous traffic situations. I am therefore very pleased that this week we started to tackle the Ganzeweide. Besides a redesign that will improve safety, we are also combining it with further greening of the area. In this way we are working on the livability of the neighborhood."

Slower driving

Several aspects of the new design situation will be addressed, with the main goal of slowing traffic down. There will be road narrowing, intersections where traffic from the right has the right of way, more clearly marked parking spaces, and clear and easily identifiable crosswalks. The area will also become much greener with the planting of trees, flowers and plants.

Work

Work started in June 2024 and if all goes as expected, the work will be finished in September 2024. There will be a temporary stop during the construction vacations.
