On Saturday, December 20, at 7 p.m., we will celebrate the opening of the Schelmentoren and conclude the Year of Heerlen Heritage with a spectacular outdoor performance at the Schelmenhofje.

What can you expect?

A poetic and humorous performance that brings together the three times: the past, present, and future of Heerlen. The performance is called Hier brandt het licht (Here the light burns) and is an ode to the city and its inhabitants. The free performance about heritage, community, and hope lasts until 7:30 p.m. Will you be there?!

Good to know 

  • Parking is available at Q-Park De Klomp and Raadhuisparking.
  • We will be taking photos and filming during the event. We will use these images for municipal communication channels. 

Make the evening complete

The annual Wintertijd event also takes place during the closing event. Strap on your skates and then enjoy a hot chocolate with whipped cream. Check out the Wintertijd program at .
