Noise pollution on public roads

Using sound equipment on the street is allowed only if it does not disturb local residents. You must prove this with a noise survey.

Approach

The following is how you submit the report to the congregation:

  • Go to the Environment Counter.
  • You log in.
  • Among other things, you pass on:
    • noise survey report
    • information about your company

Do you want to use outdoor sound equipment for your business? For example, for music on your terrace? Then local residents should not be disturbed.

You need to prove that you are not making too much noise. You can show this with a noise survey. There are companies that can conduct this survey for you. The survey must measure how much of your noise can be heard on the facades of nearby buildings. These are buildings where people live. These include homes, nursing homes, houseboats, and so on.

You must provide the noise survey report to the municipality through the Environment Desk. This must be done at least 4 weeks before you start using the noise equipment.

You can apply for an outdoor noise waiver for:

  • sound device
  • (recreational) appliance

Requirements

The municipality can designate locations where some noise is allowed. However, you must comply with established regulations. These have to do with:

  • the maximum noise level
  • location of noise sources
  • frequency and times of its use
