Façade improvement fund in Hoensbroek-Centrum launched

Following in the footsteps of Heerlen-Centrum, the facade improvement fund is now also being opened in Hoensbroek-Centrum. The Board of B&W has agreed to the proposal of the facade improvement fund and thus wants to encourage property owners in Hoensbroek-Centrum to restore the facades of their historic buildings to their original state. The scheme can be applied for from November 1, 2025.

Alderman Marco Peters (Restructuring) explains: "In the center of Hoensbroek there are a huge number of historic buildings such as, for example, the beautiful building with the steps on the Gebrookerplein. By restoring them to their original state, we also ensure that the identity of Hoensbroek becomes visible again. This contributes to the goal of making the center of Hoensbroek the living room again: to become an attractive place where people are proud of and like to come to live, store, meet each other and participate in cultural and social activities. The area perspective and implementation program, previously adopted by the City Council, form the basis for the transformation of Hoensbroek-Centrum. One of the actions we immediately pick up is the stimulation of façade improvement, aimed at improving (historical) buildings in the center to strengthen the village identity. We also increase the attractiveness of the shopping center by doing so."

Duration and locations

The scheme will open as of November 1, 2025 and run through December 2027, taking into account both the application and execution periods of the works. It concerns properties on Gebrookerplein, Hoofdstraat (the part from Markt to Gebrookerplein), Nieuwstraat and Markt.
