Heerlen launches first medieval route with wonderful stories

Who knows that the Schelmentoren used to be a residential tower and served as a prison tower during the period of the billygoat riders? With a route of 3.2 kilometers, the participant will have the unique opportunity to relive Heerlen's medieval past through fascinating stories.

One discovers the world of knights and robbers with virtual videos, a 360 degree tour and medieval street art. The route is available at Visit Zuid-Limburg Experience Heerlen-Parkstad at Spoorplein 40 in Heerlen and on the website of Visit Zuid-Limburg.

The route was put together in collaboration with Visit Zuid-Limburg and launched on April 11 by alderman for culture and center development Jordy Clemens. He is very enthusiastic about the route: 'With this route, the medieval past hidden under our noses becomes tangible again. Familiar locations are given new meaning and our past is highlighted in a lively way. Go on a tour of our city and discover medieval Heerlen, a beautiful hidden treasure.'

Experience

Heerlen is working hard to make its city a nicer place to live, work, do business and recreate. This medieval route makes the past more visible and provides more experience. It thus contributes to the ambition 'Together we make the Center'.
