Heerlen launches project on women and heritage

The municipality of Heerlen has launched the European project Bridging HERitage. From March 10 to 12, eight European partners came to Heerlen for the first working visit. Together, they will work for two years to raise awareness of the role of women in European culture.

More attention for women in heritage

With this project, Heerlen wants to show that women have played an important role in European history. That role often receives too little attention. The project also aims to promote greater equality and a more inclusive image of cultural heritage. Residents of the city are actively involved in the project. Heerlen is coordinating the project and therefore organized the first meeting.

European cooperation project

The project will run until October 2027 and is funded by the European Union through the CERV program. Partners from nine European countries are participating and organizing meetings and activities with local women. Read more on the Samen in Buurt Heerlen website.
