Heerlen establishes Center for Safety, Livability, Care & Justice in Hoensbroek

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen has approved the purchase of the property Kouvenderstraat 97 in Hoensbroek. The building is intended to house the Center for Safety, Livability, Care & Justice. The building is located right in the center of Hoensbroek and is spacious. It serves as a place where professionals from the neighborhood and region can collaborate in the areas of safety, quality of life, care and justice. After renovation and preservation, the building is scheduled for completion in May 2025.

Previously referred to as the "Safety Center" for this place of cooperation, this previous name has been changed. The new name does more justice to the diversity of partners participating in the concept. A total of 26 organizations or teams are committed to the Safety, Livability, Care & Justice Center and use the location as a permanent or flexible workplace. Students from the Order and Safety MBO program, who are being trained as enforcers or police officers, also walk directly with or alongside the professionals.

Mayor Roel Wever: "With the center we strengthen in Hoensbroek and the rest of Heerlen-North the presence of partners in the areas of safety, livability, care and justice. I am very happy with that, especially for the residents of Hoensbroek. For example, there will be a police post in the building and the Care and Safety House Parkstad will move here. The center also offers participating partners and our professionals in the field of care and security a unique location for collaboration. Unique also because residents can walk in here with their questions about safety, livability and perceived social problems."

Alderman Marco Peters: "The restructuring of Hoensbroek Center is top priority. The realization of the Center Safety, Livability, Care and Justice is an important milestone in this approach and meets what residents, entrepreneurs and visitors find important in realizing a livable and vital center."
