Description
Household waste is, for example, vegetable, fruit and garden waste, paper and plastic packaging. The municipality collects this and provides separate collection for many wastes. This applies to household waste that is recycled or harmful to the environment.
The municipality collects this waste separately:
- biowaste (vegetable, fruit and garden waste, also known as green waste)
- glass
- paper
- textile
- plastic packaging, metal packaging and beverage cartons (PMD)
Rd4 collects household waste in the municipality of Heerlen. In Heerlen, most households use minicontainers. At homes where there is no room for minicontainers and no collection system nearby, you must use marked blue household garbage bags. Colleagues can check for you if you get these garbage bags.
Plastic, Metal and Beverage Carton
Plastic, metal packaging (cans) and beverage cartons Rd4 collects separately for reuse. You can put your PMD in the special PMD bags. You can collect these bags free of charge from supermarkets.
Waste paper
Waste paper and cardboard is collected monthly by Rd4 or Rd4 in cooperation with associations. You can also bring your old paper and cardboard free of charge to the Rd4 resource parks or to a street facility.
BEST bag
Stuff you no longer use can be put in the BEST bag. With this bag you can have old books, electrical appliances (if they fit in the BEST bag), toys and textiles collected by Rd4. Often you can also hand in electrical appliances at stores. The collection dates are on your waste guide.
Textiles and other small thrift items
Old clothes and shoes are great to reuse. Bring them to a thrift store or special container for textile collection or put them in the BEST bag. The Rd4 recycling stores sell these second-hand clothes. What we do not sell in the Netherlands is often still usable in developing countries (as clothing or as raw materials). You can also bring clothing, textiles and shoes to Rd4 yourself.
KCA
You can hand in all your KCA (Small Chemical Waste) free of charge at Rd4 resource parks.
