Jordy Clemens SP) has been Alderman the municipality of Heerlen since 2014.

As a history teacher, I loved bringing old stories to life. I now do the same with the unique story of Heerlen, also in my third term as Alderman. For me, Heerlen is the city where things are possible that are not possible elsewhere. But unfortunately, it is also the city where, for many people, nothing comes easily. Here, we have to fight for a better future ourselves. For me, the municipality must therefore be an ally to its residents. Sometimes by offering help where necessary, but also by leading the way and showing what is possible here.

The new council must and will demonstrate both of these things in the coming years. Once again, we are opting for a strong social course, we are taking on the fight against (child) poverty, and we are committed to neighborhood facilities such as schools and public transportation, but also to the supermarket. We will make life difficult for slum landlords, nuisance makers, and litterbugs. What I am most looking forward to is working with all the hard-working people in education, Health other areas in our neighborhoods.

We are going the extra mile in our city center. We are aiming for significantly more greenery, water, (street) art, and conviviality. I also challenge residents, entrepreneurs, and other initiators to contribute ideas on how we can make Heerlen an even more vibrant and playful place, where everyone enjoys spending time.

Together, we can make our city more beautiful, more enjoyable, and—in my opinion—a little more exciting. Proud of Heerlen!
