Lecture: Archaeology around the Landsfort

In December 2025, at the end of the Year of Heerlen Heritage, the Schelmentoren will open to the public. In the meantime, this medieval tower will be redesigned and the municipality will organize various activities that tell the history of the Schelmentoren and medieval Heerlen. One of the activities is a series of lectures.
On Sunday, September 7, regional archaeologist Hilde Vanneste will give a lecture on the archaeology surrounding the Landsfort. Landsfort Herle is the name of the fortified fortress that was Heerlen-Centrum in the Middle Ages. The lecture will take place in the Theresia Hall of De Twee Gezusters (Putgraaf 3, Heerlen) and is free of charge. Walk-in: 1:30 p.m. Start lecture: 2 p.m.
