Medlands Parkstad aims to attract talent and create 3,000 new jobs
To attract, train and retain talent for the Medtech sector (medical technology) in Parkstad, companies from this sector are now working together with educational institutions and the municipalities of Heerlen and Kerkrade. This collaboration is called Medlands and aims to create 3,000 new jobs around 2030. The collaboration focuses on image, education, the labor market and infrastructure.
In the Parkstad region you will find some of the most prominent international companies in medical technology. They deliver medicines and equipment to hospitals and healthcare institutions worldwide within 24 hours. In this way they help 56 million patients each year. The demand for these products is high and will only increase in the future.
"By working together with companies such as Abbott, Boston Scientific, DocMorris and Medtronic, we not only make the region attractive to new talent but also ensure economic growth. Together with organisations such as the Bovengrondse Vakschool, JINC, Beyond and WSP Parkstad, the companies are committed to broad social development. This by offering training and a job to untapped labour potential," says Alderman Martin de Beer .
