Submit a statement of support for the municipal elections

Parties or groups that want to participate in elections sometimes need declarations of support. A declaration of support is made at the municipality where you live.

Approach

This is how you make the statement of support:

  • You go to the municipality where you live.
  • You will need to bring:
    • a valid ID
    • the completed, unsigned form
  • You sign the form in front of the official.

Description

A political party or group that wants to participate in elections sometimes needs declarations of support. A declaration of support lets you know that you support the political party or group. The party must receive enough declarations of support to be allowed to participate in elections.

A statement of support is required for a party or group that:

  • running for office in the municipality for the first time
  • did not win a seat in the previous municipal elections
  • did not register a party name (blank list)

Requirements

These are the Requirements for making a statement of support:

  • The party is running for election.
  • You may vote for the elections in which the party is running.

You can make a maximum of 1 statement of support per election.

Term

You can submit your statements of support for parties wishing to participate in the municipal elections from Monday, January 19, 2026, through Monday, February 2, 2026.
