Research into the development of a community care center in Heerlen

Woonpunt and the municipality of Heerlen want to build a care community center on the vacant lot on Kasteellaan in Meezenbroek. To this end, they signed a letter of intent on September 26. We will first investigate whether the construction of such a care community center is feasible.

A care community center is a building with regular apartments and apartments for residents who Health . This allows older people or people who Health to continue living in the neighborhood. Think, for example, of people who are eligible for the Wmo or Wlz. The building will also have communal areas, such as a living room and kitchen. All residents of the building can go there to socialize and have a chat. Local residents are also welcome. The idea is that there will be 24 rental apartments in the building, spread over a maximum of three floors. 

Parties involved

First, the feasibility of building such a care community center will be investigated. Four parties will conduct this investigation: Woonpunt (landlord of the homes), the municipality of Heerlen (implementer of Woonvisie Heerlen), MeanderGroep (provider of Health) and Holikiday (project developer). On September 26, Woonpunt and the municipality of Heerlen signed a letter of intent for this purpose. 

Planning

If the study shows that construction is feasible, the care community center would be completed in 2027.
