Opening of Heerlerbaan Broad Social Facility
On October 12, Brede Maatschappelijke Voorziening (BMV) Heerlerbaan will open. The BMV on Vullingsweg is a home for all kinds of social activities in the areas of education, health, care, welfare, culture and exercise. The users have moved in over the past few weeks. We are proud to open the BMV to partners, parents and local residents.
Retrospective
Construction of the BMV began in 2022. Two years later there is a grand, future-proof and energy-efficient building with all the conveniences. The BMV is the home for elementary school De Windwijzer and OBS De Tovercirkel, toddler care Heerlen, the BSO and child care of Humankind, SCHUNCK Library, Jens, Neighborhood Point the Flash and GP Heerlerbaan. There is also a sports hall for clubs and both schools.
Under one roof
The users of the BMV support and help children aged 0 to 12 with their social-psychological development. The BMV connects with social and community organizations in the neighborhood. All facilities are under one roof. Alderman Jordy Clemens is proud of this new place for the neighborhood. ''Access to education in your own familiar environment is extremely important for children. It gives them equal opportunities and it brings families in the neighborhood closer together. I am therefore proud that good education, combined with access to care, culture and social facilities for the residents of Heerlerbaan can now be found under one roof.''
Sustainability
The BMV is a sustainable and energy-neutral building. We keep the building at temperature with a soil energy system and it has a solar panel field on the roof.
Opening
The building will open to everyone on Oct. 12 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. During the opening, anyone can view the building.
