DSM art collection from meeting room to museum.

The exhibition Rooted in Change: DSM Art Collection from Meeting Room to Museum shows 200 works from DSM's former art collection. For the first time since the donation of dsm-firmenich to the city of Heerlen, this extraordinary corporate collection will be shown to the public. This makes one of the oldest corporate collections in the Netherlands public property and part of the SCHUNCK Collection.

The DSM collection includes almost 500 works: paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations. The exhibition shows 200 works by Limburg greats like Ger Lataster, Jef Diederen and Harry Koolen, alongside contemporary makers like Hadassah Emmerich, Chaim van Luit and melanie bonajo. Together, they show the breadth and stratification of a collection that was embedded in the corporate culture of DSM, now dsm-firmenich, for nearly a century and is now finding its way to a wider audience.

The exhibition can be seen in the iconic Glass Palace, the Dutch Mining Museum and the Heerlen Town Hall. Within Rooted in Change, special attention is given to the project Coal Tracks: clouds over Sawahlunto, in which artist Jop Vermeesch and photographer Lara Gasparotto visualize the connection between the Limburg mining region, Liege and Indonesia.

More information about the collection can be seen on this website.
