Working together to promote participation and independence in Heerlen

Residents receive extra support if they participate in society. The municipality of Heerlen receives a subsidy for this from the European Union Social Inclusion (ESF+). This money will be used to start a project that supports residents. The project will run until October 2027 and will help residents find structure, get their financial affairs in order, or become (re)active in society.

What does the project entail?

Thanks to European subsidies, the municipality of Heerlen can offer more personalized support. Together with residents, we look at what is possible and what steps are appropriate for their situation.

The support focuses on, among other things:

  • actively participating in society;
  • get your finances in order;
  • strengthening independence and self-confidence.

The support is tailored to the resident's abilities and pace.

What do we do with European money?

We use the money for:

  • additional guidance and discussions;
  • support with money matters and financial planning;
  • organizing activities that encourage residents to participate and become independent.

What are the benefits of this project?

Developing self-confidence and gaining insight into how residents can best participate.
The municipality of Heerlen ensures that all residents have the opportunity to participate.
This project is made possible by funding from the European Union (ESF+) Social Inclusion.
