School swimming

The municipality of Heerlen subsidizes school swimming lessons. 

Approach

Children who fall within the target group for school swimming will receive a registration form from their school.

School swimming lessons are free of charge.

Description

School swimming lessons take place after school. We pick up the participating children by bus at the school and take them to the Otterveurdt swimming pool. After the swimming lesson, we take the children back to school. 

At the beginning of the school year, the school sends children who fall within the target group a letter with a registration form. Parents can register their child for school swimming lessons.

School swimming lessons start in October.

Requirements

The Requirements participating in school swimming include: 

  • The child is in grade 5 at a primary school in Heerlen and does not yet have swimming certificate A, B, or C.
  • The child is in grades 6, 7, and 8 at a primary school in Heerlen and does not yet have swimming certificate A.
