2025 is a special year: it is Heritage Year Heerlen and the 15th anniversary of the Dutch Mountain Film Festival (DMFF). Together with Photography Limburg and Land van Kalk we invite you to participate in a unique smartphone photo workshop and photo contest in the breathtaking landscape full of castles, chalk and heritage in and around Heerlen.
On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2, you will learn the intricacies of composition, storytelling and photographic techniques under the guidance of professional photographer Jörgen van Beem of Photography Limburg. During an inspiring walk through the Imstenraderbos towards the historic Kalkovens at the Daelseweg you will get practical tips to learn to look differently and capture the heritage and landscape at its best. You will also receive a well-filled knapsack with regional products and you will taste a glass of Land van Kalk Appelsap, a refreshing break in the middle of the heritage landscape.
And that's not all! Every participant in the photo workshop may submit his or her most beautiful photo. This photo is guaranteed to be presented on a big screen on Saturday, November 8, during the DMFF around the film "Mont Blanc, Eternel." In this film, photographer Mario Colonel takes you up Mont Blanc and introduces you to its history and nature! A ticket for this film about photography in the mountains is included with the photography workshop.
