Operation Stone Break
Do you live in Heerlen and want to make your stone garden greener? Then sign up now for Operation Steenbreek and NK Tegelwippen. Because a green environment reduces stress and makes people happy. A green environment is cooler and ensures that less rainwater runs into the sewer. Operation Steenbreek will provide you with free plants and gardening advice. And the NK Tile Tipping Championship will arrange for a tile taxi to collect your tiles or asphalt free of charge. Together we can achieve a lot!
Operation Stone Break
Get rid of your tiles and add some greenery! After signing up, someone will come by to discuss the possibilities with you, such as a beautiful vertical garden, green plant packages, or even your own fruit tree!
Dutch tile flipping championship
When you register for the NK tile flipping competition, you can use the tile taxi free of charge. It will collect your removed tiles, even if you are not participating in Operation Steenbreek. Join in and pass on your tiles! The more people who do this, the better.

How does it work?
- Sign up for the campaign on the Steenbreek website and NK tegelwippen.
- Steenbreek will schedule an appointment with you to discuss your preferences. For example, which plants are most suitable for your garden and its design.
- After receiving this advice, you can choose from several plant packages. They are sufficient for planting a minimum of 6 square meters and a maximum of 12 square meters of greenery.
- You will receive the plants at a fixed delivery time. You will be notified of the date in advance.
- You can use a tile taxi free of charge through NK tegelwippen. They will collect your removed tiles. Register your tiles at tegelwippen@heerlen.nl.
- Remove your tiles and put the greenery in.

Heat? Keep your head cool
Cooling starts with greenery. In addition to Steenbreek, there are other ways to add greenery. Here are a few tips:
- Health a green roof or facade garden through our subsidy option. A green garden can be up to 7 degrees cooler than a stone garden.
- Health a green space in your neighborhood. Take a look at the Samen in de Buurt website to see the possibilities. Together with us and possibly your neighbors, you can transform a public space into a shaded spot where you can sit and relax.
