Successful cleanup campaign Vrieheide

On Wednesday, May 29, a very successful clean-up event took place in the Vrieheide neighborhood. Residents and volunteers came together en masse to make their neighborhood clean, beautiful and safe, strengthening the sense of community and pride for the neighborhood.

A day of collaboration and engagement

The day began at Christ King Church with a brief briefing. Councilman Marco Peters officially opened the day and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of local residents.

Councilman Marco Peters said, "Everyone feels more comfortable in a clean environment. A clean neighborhood motivates others to clean up as well, and Vrieheide deserves this."

Activities and facilities

The neighborhood was divided into two parts, with the second part coming up in the fall. Near Christ King Church was a temporary environmental street where residents could offer their trash. There were also an exchange area for all kinds of items and a donor/repair street for bicycles. At Christ King Church and 't Heitje, everyone enjoyed a communal lunch.

Joint neighborhood strength

The action was made possible by various local organizations such as Stg. Wijkbeheer Vrieheide, De Bovengrondse Vakschool, 't Heerlens Heitje, Een Hart voor een Ander, Relim, De Buurttuin and many other volunteers.

Ron Meyer of the Heerlen-North National Program thanked everyone and underlined, "Our social catch-up begins with a neighborhood that is clean, whole and safe. The fact that so many residents participated in this cleanup campaign proves how important a clean neighborhood is."

Thanks to the joint efforts of all involved, Vrieheide has once again become a lot cleaner and more beautiful.
