Timoer Reijnders

Timoer Reijnders SP), a council member since March 30, 2022, and Alderman the municipality of Heerlen since June 3, 2026.

My name is Timoer Reijnders, and I was born and raised in Heerlen. I grew up in Schandelen in Heerlen-Noord and have been living in Bekkerveld in Heerlen-Zuid for sixteen years now. Together with my Belgian wife and our two sons, aged 11 and 14, I am delighted to live in the city where my roots lie. Proudly a true Heerlen native. This city is in my heart, and I feel that every day.

Before Alderman , I worked for years as a manager. I see the opportunity to now serve my own city as an administrator as a great honor. Heerlen faces challenges, but above all, it offers opportunities. That is exactly what I want to contribute to.

I am a true people person. I get energy from the strength, ideas, and commitment of people. That is why I strongly believe in collaboration: with residents, community partners, and colleagues within the municipality. I also believe in the truth on the street. Not everything that matters is found in reports or policy documents. It is important to me to hear, see, and feel what is happening in the city. Residents’ experiences must guide us in what we do.

As Alderman , I Alderman to a social and opportunity-rich Heerlen. Through issues such as education, youth care, poverty reduction, and inclusion, I want to contribute to a city where everyone can participate and has opportunities to develop. Heerlen has been undergoing significant change in recent years. We are in the midst of a long-term race to catch up and are making progress every day. I would like to contribute to that.

A special part of my portfolio is the focus neighborhoods. For me, this presents a wonderful challenge to work together with residents and partners to build strong neighborhoods, a pleasant living environment, and more opportunities for residents. Ultimately, I want residents to notice that their neighborhood is becoming a better place, that they feel heard, and that there is a sense of hope for the future. That is what I am committed to every day.
