Two bicycle bridges to Avantis/Trilandis
The municipality has received a €1,500,000 grant from the state to improve the bicycle route between Heerlen-North and the business parks to the south. Among other things, we are constructing two bicycle bridges over the traffic circle at Avantis/Trilandis.
The Avantis and Trilandis business parks are now easily accessible mainly by car. To make accessibility attractive for cyclists as well, we are constructing two bicycle bridges over the N281-N300 traffic circle. We are trying to reuse the two bridges that will become available when the A2 is widened. We are also using the money for improvements to other places on the route. The bridges and bicycle connections must be completed by 2028 at the latest.
Employment
Alderman Marco Peters (Mobility):
"The area that Avantis and Trilandis are part of is one of the most important employment clusters in Parkstad, with 15,000 jobs. In the future we expect another increase of over 9,000 to a total of 24,000 jobs. Now this area is mostly easily accessible by car. Investing in a good bicycle connection therefore means better accessibility to the area, but above all putting more jobs within reach of our residents."
