Placing displays at a company

In the municipality of Heerlen, it is permitted to place displays. This can be done without a permit. You must Requirements a number Requirements .

Approach

This is how you apply for a permit to place a display: 

  • Go to the Environment Desk
  • Perform the permit check. 
  • You will see if you need a permit. You can apply for the permit right away. 
  • You log in.
  • You provide: 
    • why you want to place the display 
    • what kind of display it is 
    • how big the display is 
    • Where and when you want to place the display 
    • how long the display will remain

Description

You may place the movable objects listed below without a permit:

  • advertisements
  • display racks, displays of products
  • flower boxes
  • playground equipment such as a spin machine at the entrance of a store

Requirements

You may stall without permission if you meet the following Requirements :

  • Health that a clear passage of at least 2.00 meters always remains.
  • Place the display as close to the façade as possible.
  • You may place one display per 5 meter facade width of the property.
  • You may not place more than 1 display per property.
  • The display should not exceed 100 x 60 x 150 cm (lxwxh). The length runs parallel to the facade.
  • For pedestrians, at least 200 cm remains, measured from the display.
  • Road safety must not be compromised.
  • After stores close, remove items from public streets.
  • During events and markets, no displays are allowed at the event/market location.
  • No sales may take place at the display.
  • You must follow instructions from supervisors, police and emergency services.

Term

The municipality will decide on your application within 8 weeks. Is that not possible? Then the municipality may extend this period 1 time.

Objections and appeals

Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? Then you can lodge an objection. This allows you to let the municipality know why you disagree with the decision. You must do this within six weeks. The municipality will then review your application and make a new decision.

If you still disagree with the municipality's decision, you can ask the court to review whether the municipality made the right decision. This is called 'appealing'.
