Stories from GMS: Prima Donna's
LectureDate:
Time: -
Location: The MijnGang (Huskensweg 37, Heerlen).

As part of The Year of Heerlen Heritage, Neighborhood Team Heerlen is hosting a special gathering on Friday, May 9, 2025, on a topic that is too often underexposed: the role of women in our local history.
Although women have had a great impact on our society over the centuries, they are still too little named or honored in Park City's collective memory. Their stories often disappear between the lines of history books. Together with local residents, the Ouwe Leem Foundation wants to change this - with the Parkstad Prima Donna's project.
101 life stories of extraordinary Park City women
During the meeting, Marcel Put, historian and author of the book Parkstad Prima Donna's. 101 Life Stories of Extraordinary Park City Women, about his search for these inspiring women's lives. He brings us stories of strength, resistance, courage, Health and creativity - with a special focus on the women from GMS (Ganzeweide, Meezenbroek and Schaesbergerveld).
They are stories of women who sometimes started small, but became big in their impact on their surroundings. Stories that touch, evoke recognition and show how important it is that these histories are also passed on.
Listening, sharing and remembering together
The gathering is more than a lecture - it is an invitation to reflect together on the heritage that lives on our streets, families and communities. Whether you come to listen, share something or are just curious: you are welcome.
