Are you moving? You must notify the municipality where you will be living. You can do this between 4 weeks before the move and 5 days after the move.

Approach

You can report a move from 4 weeks before the move until 5 days after the move.

  • Log in with DigiD at the municipality where you will be living.
  • Fill out the form.

Are you going to live with someone? Then we also ask:

  • written consent from the primary occupant. Are you doing this digitally? Then you can do so using the form. Would you prefer to do it in writing? Then we will send or email you the written consent form upon request.
  • a copy of a valid ID of the main occupant 
  • a lease or purchase agreement

Are you unable to submit your information online?

You can also report your move in writing or by appointment at the municipal office ( ). Please bring or send a valid ID and the social security number (BSN) of the main occupant.

Costs

Reporting a change of address is free of charge.

Description

You must always report a change of address to the municipality where you will be living, even if you remain in the same municipality. The municipality will then update the Personal Records Database (BRP). 

If you are moving to Heerlen from abroad, you must visit in person to provide your new address. 

On MijnOverheid you can see the effective date of your move. 

Requirements

The Requirements reporting a change of address include: 

  • You are 16 years of age or older.
  • You have the resident's permission if you move in with someone.
  • The move will be communicated by:
    • yourself
    • a parent, guardian, or caregiver
    • cohabiting spouses or registered partners for each other (if they move to the new address together)
    • Parents living together and adult children (18+) for each other (if they move to the new address together)
    • a legal representative
    • an adult with written consent

Term

After the moving date, we will send you a written confirmation of your move to your home address. 

The date on which the municipality registers your move in the Personal Records Database (BRP) is the date on which you notify us of your move. This also applies if you have already moved elsewhere and forgotten to notify us.
