Sale of municipal properties and land
The municipality regularly sells real estate such as homes, buildings or social facilities. But they may also be undeveloped pieces of land, business plots or residual strips. These sales are publicly announced.
If a municipality wants to sell property, it should act transparently and publish it online in advance. This way, interested parties can let it be known that they are interested and compete. The publication is necessary if several candidates are expected to come forward. The buyer must be selected by the municipality based on pre-established criteria.

Heerlen announces sales via:
- website with official notices for municipal property
- Rebis website for corporate lots
No public sale at 1 party
If only one particular party is expected to qualify, the above is not required. These are the so-called 1:1 sales. However, the sale must then be published with reasons. This method of sale is determined in a ruling by the Supreme Court on November 26, 2021; the so-called Didam ruling.
