Advance assistance benefit
If you apply for social assistance benefits, municipality must first make a decision. If this takes longer than 4 weeks, you will receive a provisional advance. The municipality will pay the advance to you within 4 weeks of your application for an assistance benefit.

The municipality transfers the advance to you. You do not have to do anything to do this.

Description
If you apply for welfare benefits, municipality must first review your application. This may take several weeks. Until then, you will have no income.
Will it take longer than 4 weeks to assess your application? Then you will receive a provisional advance so that you still have money. You do not have to apply for this advance yourself. The municipality will pay it to you, if you meet the conditions. You will then receive an advance every 4 weeks until municipality has made a decision.
Does it later turn out that you are not entitled to assistance after all? Then you must repay the money that was advanced to you.
Are you entitled to an assistance benefit? Then municipality calculates how much assistance benefit you should have received. The advances you have received will be deducted from this. You will receive the difference as your first payment. You do not have to repay the advances paid.
Terms
The conditions for receiving an advance on welfare benefits are:
- You have provided all the information the municipality needs for your application for welfare benefits.
- The municipality has not yet made a decision on whether you will receive welfare benefits.
Term
The municipality pays you the advance 4 weeks after you apply for welfare benefits. After that, you will receive the advance every 4 weeks. The advance payment stops as soon as municipality makes a decision on your application for assistance benefits.
Objection and appeal
You cannot object if municipality does not pay you an advance or pays you too little. Is the advance payment necessary for you? Then you can ask the province to make a ruling. The province can order the municipality to pay you a (higher) advance.
This ruling is valid until the municipality has decided on your application for assistance.
