If you have a Social assistance benefit the municipality must first make a decision. If this takes longer than 4 weeks, you will receive a provisional advance. The municipality will pay you the advance within 4 weeks after your application for a Social assistance benefit .

Description

If you have a Social assistance benefit the municipality must first assess your application. This can take a number of weeks. Until then, you have no income.

Does the assessment of your application take longer than 4 weeks? Then you will receive a provisional advance payment, so that you still have money. You do not have to apply for this advance payment yourself. The municipality will pay you this, if you meet the Requirements complies. You will then receive an advance payment every 4 weeks until the municipality has made a decision.

Does it later turn out that you are not entitled to assistance after all? Then you must repay the money that was advanced to you.

Are you entitled to a Social assistance benefit ? Then the municipality calculates how much Social assistance benefit you should have received. The advances you received will be deducted from this. The difference will be paid to you as the first payment. You do not have to repay the advances paid.

Requirements

The Requirements to receive an advance on a Social assistance benefit are:

  • You have provided all the information the municipality needs for your application for a Social assistance benefit .
  • The municipality has not yet made a decision whether you Social assistance benefit gets.
Term

The municipality will pay you the advance payment 4 weeks after your application for a Social assistance benefit . After that, you will receive the advance payment every 4 weeks. The advance payment will stop as soon as the municipality has made a decision on your application for a Social assistance benefit .

Objection and appeal

You cannot object if the municipality does not pay you an advance or pays you too little. Is the advance payment necessary for you? Then you can ask the province to make a ruling. The province can order the municipality to pay you a (higher) advance.

This ruling is valid until the municipality has decided on your application for assistance.
