Description

If you Social assistance benefit , the municipality must first assess your application. This can take several weeks. Until then, you will have no income.

Will it take longer than 4 weeks to assess your application? Then you will receive a provisional advance payment so that you still have money. You do not need to apply for this advance payment yourself. The municipality will pay it to you if you Requirements the Requirements . You will then receive an advance payment every 4 weeks until the municipality has made a decision.

If it later turns out that you are not entitled to social assistance after all, you will have to repay the money that was advanced to you.

Are you entitled to Social assistance benefit? If so, the municipality will calculate how much Social assistance benefit should have received. Any advances you have received will be deducted from this amount. The difference will be paid to you as your first benefit payment. You do not have to repay the advances that have been paid out.

Term

Objections and appeals

You cannot object if the municipality pays you no advance or too little. Is the advance necessary for you? Then you can ask the province to make a decision. The province can instruct the municipality to pay you a (higher) advance.

This decision is valid until the municipality has made a decision on your application for social assistance.
