Mayors of South Limburg issue a joint message for May 4
On May 4, 2026, sixteen mayors from South Limburg will jointly deliver a special commemorative message. In a video, they will present a single message reflecting on the meaning of freedom, democracy, and responsibility: then, now, and in the future.

The initiative stems from a shared recognition among mayors that the world around us has become less predictable and less something we can take for granted. International developments are having an increasingly direct impact on the daily lives of residents and, as a result, are also affecting local government.
With this joint statement, the mayors emphasize that the values of May 4 Health our continued attention and Health . The video thus serves as a poignant moment of solidarity—a silent alliance in safeguarding what unites us.
Through this initiative, the mayors emphasize that remembrance is not merely about looking back, but also entails a responsibility for the present: to protect and pass on freedom and democracy, in solidarity with one another.
