Waiver of grave rights or transfer to other

You rent a grave in a municipal cemetery for a fixed period of time. When this time is up, you can renew it. You can also renounce your grave rights. You do not renew the grave. To do this, you must submit a waiver to the municipality.

If a grave is in your name, you can renew, transfer or relinquish grave rights. You submit your request for this to the cemetery owner.

Approach

This is how you arrange grave rights for a grave in the municipal cemetery:

  • Contact the municipality.

Is the grave in a special cemetery? If so, contact the owner of that cemetery.

  • The renunciation of a grave is free of charge.
  • For the cost of transfer and burial, see rates burial.

If you still have questions about the fee, please contact the municipality.

Description

Is the tenant of the grave deceased? You can then have the grave rights transferred to a family member. If you do not do this, the grave rights go back to the municipality.

Requirements

You must make the transfer request within six months of the tenant's death.
