Applying for guidance for school leaver

Until the age of 16, children are subject to compulsory education. Young people who do not have a starting qualification after the age of 16 must attend education until the age of 18. A starting qualification is a diploma havo, vwo or mbo (level 2 or higher).

Are you dropping out of school but do not yet have a diploma? Apply for guidance from the municipality or a Transfer Point.

Approach

This is how you apply for counseling for a school leaver:

  • You contact the municipality or the Flow-through Point.
  • Among other things, you pass on:
    • why you need guidance
    • what guidance you need

Description

If you are a young person leaving school early, it may be difficult to find a job. You can get a personal counselor from a Transfer Point. This will help you find training or work.

The counselor works with training centers, youth services, social services, UWV and other organizations.

  • From the age of 12 you have to go to school.
  • The person taking care of you is responsible for you going to school.
  • The person taking care of you is also responsible for ensuring that you are enrolled in a school.
  • Up to age 23, we monitor young people without starting qualifications.
  • ESL office tracks and helps young people to appropriate education or day care.
