Protected Housing is for anyone who needs temporary day and night assistance due to mental, social or societal problems. This may be at a shelter. Sometimes you can also continue to live at home and receive help there.
In Parkstad various forms of Protected Living are possible. We will discuss with you and your supervisor which form suits you best.

Approach

Application done and then?

  • Sign up by email.
  • Loket Opvang en Beschermd Wonen Parkstad (LOBW) will contact you to make an appointment.
It is useful to give us information before the interview. This can be about your problems or about the guidance you are currently receiving.
All information will be treated confidentially.
  • Within 6 weeks you will receive a report of the interview. If you agree with the report, you sign it for approval. If you do not agree, you will have another conversation with the LOBW counselor.
  • If the LOBW decides that you are entitled to Protected Housing, you will receive a letter - the indication decision.
If the LOBW decides that you are not entitled, you will also receive a letter. This will state why you are not entitled. Together with your LOBW counselor, you will see what form of support is possible.
  • You can get help from independent client support through MEE South Limburg

Placement

You have received an indication for protected living. We will then pass on your details to Beschermd Thuis Parkstad. The municipality has made agreements with Beschermd Thuis Parkstad. This organization can provide all forms of protected living. This concerns 'Care in kind'.

Together with you, they will look at what type of support is best for you:

  • in your own home: counseling and support then starts within a few weeks
  • in a residential care facility. If a place is available, you will move to that address. Keep in mind that it may take a few months before a place becomes available for you. In the meantime, Protected Home Parkstad will ensure that you receive support, if needed.

Personal budget (PGB).

If you prefer to purchase care yourself outside of Protected Home Parkstad, you can apply for a personal budget. This comes with special conditions and rules. With a PGB you must:

  • create your own personal plan
  • contract yourself with your care providers
  • keep your own records.

Your LOBW counselor can tell you more about this. During the assessment, the counselor looks at whether you are able to handle everything yourself. Also whether the care providers you choose are up to the task. If you use 'Care in kind' you do not have to do this yourself.

Would you like to extend your placement?

Arrange this at least 8 weeks before the end date of the indication. Contact your contact person LOBW or mail to the Shelter and Protected Housing Office: lobw@heerlen.nl

Cost

Own contribution

For sheltered housing, you must pay a portion yourself: the co-payment. For more information, visit CAK

Description

What is Protected Housing?

You live at home or in a care facility. You can always ask for help, because 24-hour care or assistance is nearby or accessible. Together with your companion, you make a care plan. That care plan states:

  • What care or guidance you need. This may include, for example, finances, administration, cleaning, cooking, shopping.
  • What activities you have or want to do during the day. The counselor takes into account your abilities at that time. He also takes into account your interests, talents and ambitions.
  • What goals you want to achieve. The ultimate goal of Protected Housing is that you can live independently again, with or without support.

Terms

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You live in one of the Park City municipalities
  • The examination shows that you need this care

Objection and appeal

You can object to the LOBW's decision. Do this within 6 weeks. After that, do you disagree with the ruling on the objection? Then appeal to the court.
