Protected Living is available to anyone who temporarily needs day and night assistance due to psychological, social, or societal problems. This can be at a shelter. Sometimes you can also continue to live at home and receive assistance there.
In Parkstad, we offer various forms of Protected Living. We will discuss with you and your counselor which form suits you best.

Approach

You've registered, now what?

  • Sign up with an email.
  • The Parkstad Shelter and Protected Housing Desk (LOBW) will contact you to make an appointment.
It is helpful to provide us with information before the meeting. This could be about your problems or the support you currently receive.
All information will be treated confidentially.
  • You will receive a report of the interview within six weeks. If you agree with the report, sign it to indicate your approval. If you disagree, you will have another interview with the LOBW consultant.
  • If the LOBW decides that you are entitled to sheltered housing, you will receive a letter—the indication decision.
If the LOBW decides that you are not entitled, you will also receive a letter. This letter will explain why you are not entitled. Together with your LOBW consultant, you will look at what form of support is available.
  • You can get help from independent client support via MEE Zuidlimburg.

Placement

You have been assessed as eligible for sheltered housing. We will pass on your details to Beschermd Thuis Parkstad. The municipality has made agreements with Beschermd Thuis Parkstad. This organization can provide all forms of sheltered housing. This involves Health Natura’.

Together with you, they will determine which form of support suits you best:

  • in your own home: guidance and support will then begin within a few weeks
  • in a residential care facility. If a place becomes available, you will move to that address. Please note that it may take a few months before a place becomes available for you. In the meantime, Beschermd Thuis Parkstad will ensure that you receive support if necessary.

Personal budget (PGB)

If you prefer Health outside of Beschermd Thuis Parkstad, you can apply for a personal budget. This is subject to special Requirements rules. With a personal budget, you must:

  • create your own personal plan
  • enter into contracts with your care providers yourself
  • keep your own records.

Your LOBW consultant can tell you more about this. During the assessment, the consultant will determine whether you are capable of arranging everything yourself. They will also assess whether the care providers you choose are capable of performing their tasks. If you useHealth Natura', you do not need to do this yourself.

Would you like to extend your placement?

Be sure to arrange this at least 8 weeks before the end date of the indication. Contact your LOBW contact person or send an email to the Shelter and Protected Living Desk: lobw@heerlen.nl.

Costs

Personal contribution

You pay part of the cost of sheltered housing yourself. This is known as the personal contribution. For more information, visit the CAK website.

Description

What is Assisted Living?

You live at home or in a care facility. You can always ask for help, because Health support is available 24 hours a day, either nearby or by phone. You will draw up a care plan together with your care worker. This care plan will include:

  • What activities you have or want to do during the day. The supervisor takes your current abilities into account. He also considers your interests, talents, and ambitions.
